More than 45 entities were present at the first edition of the Forum "Pensar as Cidades"

On June 16, the first edition of the Forum "Pensar as Cidades" took place.

The session took place at CESPU – Cooperativa de Ensino Superior Politécnico e Universitário, in Vila Nova de Famalicão, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

With the motto 'Sustainability and Innovation – a path to the future!', it was intended through this action to promote communication between municipalities and entities – organizations, universities and I&D centers – that operate within cities, discussing the opportunities and challenges to make cities more sustainable and smart by 2030.

More than 45 companies participated in the first edition of the Forum "Thinking the Cities" and were able to watch the speakers' speeches:

  • Vladimiro Feliz, responsible for the CEiiA's Unit by COLAB  – Smart & Sustainable Living of CEiiA
  • Luis Paulo Reis , President of APPIA and Associate Professor at FEUP

 

There were also two round tables with different themes to address.

The Round Table "Solutions for the Cities of the Future" had as speakers:

  • António Braz Costa - Executive Administrator at CeNTI - Centre for Nanotechnology and Smart Materials
  • José Machado - Diretor at Centro Algoritmi da Universidade do Minho
  • Nuno Silva - Product Manager at Altice Labs
  • João Pedro Ferreira - Innovation Manager at Grupo ACA
  • Filipe Portela - Founder and Executive Director of IOTECH
  • Moderator: Vítor Pereira - Executive Director of ZOOM Global Smart Cities Association

 

The Round Table "Thinking the City in 2030" was attended by the following speakers:

  • Vítor Moreira - Municipal Director of Vila Nova de Famalicão
  • Sílvia Tavares - Councillor of Câmara Municipal de Santo Tirso with responsibility for Planning and Territorial Planning, among others
  • Hélder Costa - Executive Secretary for Sustainable Development at Câmara Municipal de Braga
  • Sofia Ferreira - Councillor for the Environment, Climate Action and Mobility at Câmara Municipal de Guimarães
  • Moderator​: Henrique Santos - Associate Professor at Universidade do Minho
