Data CoLAB Inauguration

On June 20, the private non-profit association - Data CoLAB was inaugurated in Viana do Castelo.

The opening of the session was made by the president of CIM do Alto Minho, Manoel Batista who mentioned the importance of knowledge starting to arrive in a structured way to the territory and that the mission of Data CoLAB in the data value chain is a fundamental work for the change and conquest of the economy.

Prof. Sara Paiva of the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo (IPVC), an associate institute of Data CoLAB, indicated the importance in the training of IPVC and ESTG students in carrying out their undergraduate and master's degree work in close cooperation with the laboratory. This reality will even be essential for the retention of talent and the establishment of new companies in that territory.

António Dias, president of Data CoLAB, presented the mission and vision of his "home", and stressed that it aims to be an outward-looking organization that wants to build together with everyone to innovate and to contribute data-driven technological development in an inter-sector ecosystem, with the motto "Together we reshape the way we live". He presented his associates, SGS, the universities of Minho, Porto-FEP and Nova de Lisboa, IPVC, FI Group and Smartwatt.

This was followed by a visit to the facilities and then the vice president of Data CoLAB, Paulo Reis, presented the projects in which they are involved.

Sofia Couto, from ANI, indicated the importance of building bridges to increase network collaboration so that projects do not stay in the drawer but in the market.

The closing was made by the Mayor of Viana de Castelo, Luís Nobre who mentioned the importance of Data CoLAB in the development of the region and the impact on climate, energy and digital transitions.
